The Minor Thirds

The hearty folks of Liminal asked us to write a few songs for their new production The Resurrectory. And how could we say no?

The production starts with the true story of William Burke and William Hare, who murdered 16 people in the 1820s in order to sell their bodies to Edinburgh medical college. The medical college needed cadavers for their anatomy students to dissect, and Burke and Hare needed the money. It all worked out, do you see?

Of course, Liminal just used this as a starting point to create their curious research facility. I won't try to explain anything further; you can check out the above links for more details. But they asked us to write some songs from the points of view of the various characters involved, and so that is what we are doing.

We've also been roped into performing these songs at the shows. We (or, at least, Chris) will be outside, singing these little songs for people on their way in and out of the facility.

Performances are every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from 8-10pm, May 5th through June 18th, at the Portland Art Center, 2045 SE Belmont, in Portland. ($6-10 sliding scale.) It should be a curious and fascinating show, even apart from whatever we contribute. We hope to see you there.
